Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead delivery on an SAP S/4HANA transformation engagement for Merck. This is a hands-on (operative) role that combines day-to-day project execution with stakeholder coordination across business and technical teams. The successful candidate will own delivery outcomes, manage scope, timelines and risk, and act as the primary point of coordination between the client, delivery teams, and supporting functions. The role suits someone with a strong SAP project background who is equally comfortable in agile and waterfall delivery settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of SAP S/4HANA transformation workstreams, from planning through execution to handover.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, resources, and dependencies against agreed commitments.
  • Maintain delivery governance: planning, status reporting, risk and issue management (RAID), and escalation.
  • Act as the primary interface with client stakeholders, managing expectations and communication throughout the engagement.
  • Coordinate cross-functional business and technical teams to ensure aligned, on-time delivery.
  • Apply the appropriate delivery approach (agile, waterfall, or hybrid) based on workstream needs.
  • Track and report on progress, milestones, and delivery health to client and internal leadership.
  • Identify delivery risks early and drive mitigation actions to closure.

Requirements

 

  • Hands-on (operative) project management experience across the full delivery lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated experience working operatively within SAP S/4HANA transformation projects.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Proven stakeholder management capability.
  • Working knowledge of both agile and waterfall delivery approaches.
  • Recognized PM certification (PRINCE2, PMP, or equivalent).
  • Experience in custom software development projects, ideally SAP BTP development projects
  • Location: Bangalore, need to be in Merck Electronic City office 2/3 days a week. 
  • 12+ years of experience in operational project management
  • 3+ years in leadership roles within SAP projects
  • 2–3 years specializing in SAP S/4HANA transformation initiatives
